Human Rights Watch (“HRW”) is seeking highly-qualified applicants for the position of Grants Administrator with the Development and Outreach Department.
 
 
Description:
Reporting to the Director of Foundation Relations, the Grants Administrator coordinates the work of the six-person Foundation Relations Unit of HRW’s Development and Outreach Department, providing critical assistance to support its fundraising efforts. Responsibilities range from administrative tasks to higher-level functions requiring critical thinking, swift judgment and excellent interpersonal skills. The Grants Administrator keeps the Foundation Relations Unit organized by tracking more than 100 grants, maintaining physical and virtual grant files, updating Raiser’s Edge database records and ensuring that HRW complies with grant reporting requirements. The Grants Administrator liaises with the Finance Department to ensure the timely turnaround of budgets and financial reports for foundation donors. Additional responsibilities include drafting and editing correspondence, proposals and stewardship reports; responding to internal and external requests for information; assisting with special events; processing gift acknowledgment letters; packaging and submitting grant application materials; and overseeing the recruiting, hiring, and training of interns.  
 
Qualifications: The ideal candidate has administrative experience and is collegial, responsible, self motivated and extremely well-organized. S/he must exhibit strong attention to detail, exceptional time management skills and the ability to function under pressure. Essential qualifications include strong oral and written communications skills in English, an undergraduate degree and excellent computer skills, including basic knowledge of Excel and intermediate knowledge of Word. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and experience with grants and/or project administration is highly desirable. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to human rights are encouraged to apply. Salary and Benefits: Salary range starts at $37,192. Human Rights Watch offers excellent employer-paid benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, an outstanding pension plan and twenty (20) days vacation per year.
