About the Paris Committee

The Paris Committee is a support committee chaired by Jean-Louis Servan-Schreiber, President of Psychologies Magazine and essayist (Le retour du courage, L’entreprise à visage humain, Vivre content ...). The Committee consists of influential French and non-French members with diverse professional and personal backgrounds, but who share the common objective of promoting the respect of human rights. The Committee plays an essential role in increasing the visibility and impact of Human Rights Watch in France.

The Committee's objectives are:

  •  Reinforcing the scope of Human Rights Watch's campaigns and outreach activities, by promoting its work within political, financial and media circles in France.

  •  Spreading Human Rights Watch's message to an ever wider public in France, through the organization of public and private events throughout the year.

  •  Raising funds to enable Human Rights Watch to pursue its work in France and throughout the world.

The Paris Committee is part of the Human Rights Watch Council, a network of committees across 13 cities in Europe, Canada and the United States. Composed of more than 400 opinion leaders from a variety of backgrounds, the Council seeks to increase awareness of local and global human rights issues, enlist the public and government to support basic freedoms for all, and generate financial support for Human Rights Watch. Our committees are active in the following cities:
