André Rangel
André Rangel is the Associate Communications Director for the Americas at Human Rights Watch. He oversees communications strategies, media outreach and content in the region.
He has worked on human rights communications and advocacy since 2015, when he joined Mexico’s Memory and Tolerance Museum as Associate Researcher on the Darfur crisis. Later, he served as Americas Campaigns Assistant and South America Campaigner at Amnesty International. Before joining Human Rights Watch, he was International Crisis Group’s Senior Communications and Advocacy Officer for Latin America and the Caribbean.
André has published articles in Nexos and the Mexican Journal of Political and Social Sciences. He has a master’s degree in international relations from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and did a research affiliation on genocide studies at The University of Auckland.
