Cristian González Cabrera
Cristian González Cabrera is a senior researcher in the LGBT rights program at Human Rights Watch, where he focuses on Latin America and the Caribbean. His work in the region addresses the criminalization of consensual same-sex conduct, violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, comprehensive sexuality education, legal gender recognition, and family rights.
Prior to joining HRW, Cristian worked at the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights, where he supported all aspects of the organization’s universal jurisdiction litigation arising out of Colombia and Syria. Cristian also worked at the Center for Justice and Accountability on extraterritorial human rights cases in U.S. federal courts arising out of Latin America and the Horn of Africa. A former Fulbright Scholar and Chancellor Fellow in Germany, he received his Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law and his Bachelor’s degree from Columbia University.
