Some nongovernmental organizations providing assistance to Burmese dissidents and others monitoring the human rights situation in Burma were investigated by Thai authorities after the Burmese embassy siege in October 1999 and the Ratchaburi hospital incident in February 2000. These agencies remained under scrutiny in October 2000. |
