David Lakhdhir

David Lakhdhir is a partner in the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.  He opened and was co-head of his firm’s office in London from 2002, and also headed its office in Tokyo from 1993 to 1997.  He is also Chair of the board of trustees of the American University of Central Asia, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan; a member of the advisory Council of JUSTICE, a U.K., law reform and human rights organization; and a director of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy. He was Chair of the International Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association from 1999 to 2001.  A graduate of Harvard College and the Harvard Law School, he served as a Teaching Assistant in Harvard’s Government Department in 1982-83, and then as a Visiting Scholar at the Indian Law Institute in New Delhi from 1983 to 1984, before beginning the practice of law.  He is Chair of HRW’s Asia Advisory Committee, a member and former Chair of its London Committee, and Chair of the Policy Committee of the Board.
