Human Rights Watch’s news app provides daily updates and in-depth research from the world's leading human rights organization. Readers will get fresh content every day, including blog posts, in-depth research reports, daily news summaries, videos and graphics. The app offers a number of unique features: The ability for the user to customize their home page to deliver news from specific countries and topics that interest them most; to deliver the content in ether English, Arabic, French or Spanish, and access content from dozens of other languages; and the convenience of off-line reading for commuters and other users who want to catch up on critical human rights news off-the grid.

 

How to

Getting Started

When you first instal the app you are prompted to choose a language for news content. Available languages are Arabic, English, French and Spanish

When you open the app the latest 19 news stories will be downloaded to your phone. Once they are, you can read offline.

Using the App

Click one of the headlines in the list to view the news story. Swipe sideways to see the next story (or backwards to see the previous story).

Click on the HRW icon to return to the app’s home page.

The app will download the latest news every time it is opened. If you want to update the news while you are using the app pull down on the homepage.

Menu options

- you can find the following options under the menu tab at the top right hand corner of the screen

- Language: You can change the language of the app news content to English, Spanish, French or Arabic
- Filters: Set filters so the app will only download news stories on the regions or topics you choose. For example, by clicking the “Americas” and “LGBT” boxes, the app will download stories from those two subject areas.
- Website: Below the filters are links to all sections of hrw.org.
